A New York man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to drive a car while intoxicated and have two bags of Viagra in his wallet.
Michael Tauler, 24, of New York, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of attempting to drive and to consume drugs without prescription. Tauler admitted to a previous misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of a drug, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' probation. He is facing 10 years' probation and a $25,000 fine. Tauler had no known criminal history.
Tauler and his wife, Sarah, had planned to have a baby. He has denied having any of the alleged drugs in his possession. In September, Tauler pleaded guilty to a previous misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of a drug, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' probation.
He said he wanted to be seen by a family member for the first time, and has since been seen by the family members at a home near the intersection of State Street and State Road in Manhattan. Tauler is scheduled to be sentenced in New York City on Sept. 28.
According to the State Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Public Health, there have been 1,800 reported drug-related incidents in the past year. The number of drugs in Tauler's possession has increased 3% since he was arrested in August.
